The Tradition Behind the Silsila
The Silsila is one of the most recognisable pieces of bridal adornment from Hunza and the wider Gilgit-Baltistan region. Traditionally fastened to the front of the Iraaghi – the richly embroidered women’s cap worn across Hunza, Nager and Yasin – the Silsila has for generations marked a woman as a bride, and stood as a quiet symbol of family, identity, and belonging to the valley.

Each Silsila is handcrafted in silver by artisans in Hunza, using techniques passed down within families for generations. No two pieces are ever quite identical – small variations in hand-hammering and detailing are part of what makes each one genuinely handmade, not a sign of inconsistency.
