Spearmint Tea from Hunza, Known Locally as Fellalin

Buy spearmint tea in Pakistan with a connection to the place it comes from. In Burushaski, a language spoken in Hunza, spearmint is called Fellalin. At Hunza Art, we offer this local herb as an air-dried loose leaf tea in a 40 g pack. Brew it on its own to enjoy its gentle mint flavour, or add a little Robinia Honey for a sweeter cup.

If you have previously bought our Fellalin Tea or Wild Mint Tea, this is the same product with an updated name and label. Spearmint Tea makes the variety easier to recognise, while Fellalin preserves its local name.

Hand-Picked in Hunza and Naturally Air-Dried

Our spearmint is hand-picked in the valleys of Hunza, air-dried, and packed at source. The loose leaf format lets you see the dried herb and choose how much goes into your cup.

Start with a light brew to get to know its flavour. Add more leaves when you want a fuller mint taste, or use a stronger infusion for iced tea.

What Does Spearmint Tea Taste Like?

Spearmint tea has a fresh herbal aroma, gentle mint flavour, and subtle natural sweetness. It is generally softer and less intensely cooling than peppermint, making it a good choice if you find strong mint teas overpowering.

Served hot, its aroma is the first thing you notice. Served cold, it makes a refreshing drink with a clean finish. Try your first cup without sweetener so you can judge the flavour for yourself.

Why Choose Spearmint Tea?

A caffeine-free cup after dinner
Pure spearmint contains no caffeine. It gives you a warm drink to enjoy in the evening when you would prefer to skip another cup of regular tea or coffee.

Fresh flavour after meals
Its light mint taste makes it a pleasant way to finish lunch or dinner. Enjoy it as an after-meal ritual whenever you want something warm and refreshing.

An alternative to sugary drinks
Brew it, cool it, and pour it over ice. Without added sugar or honey, spearmint tea gives you a flavoured drink without added sweetness.

Control over the strength
Loose leaves let you adjust the brew to your preference. Use fewer leaves for a delicate infusion or more for a stronger cup.

How to Make Spearmint Tea

For one cup:

  1. Place 1–2 teaspoons of dried spearmint in a cup, infuser, or teapot.
  2. Add approximately 250 ml of freshly boiled water.
  3. Cover and steep for 5–7 minutes.
  4. Strain and enjoy.

Adjust the amount of leaves and steeping time to suit your taste. These are starting proportions, rather than a fixed serving size.

For iced spearmint tea: Brew a stronger infusion, let it cool, and serve over ice. Add a squeeze of lemon if you enjoy a citrus flavour.

For a sweeter cup: Stir in a small amount of Robinia Honey or Sidr Honey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Fellalin the same as spearmint?

Fellalin is the Burushaski name for spearmint used for this Hunza Art tea. Our previous Fellalin Tea listing and the updated Spearmint Tea listing refer to the same product.

What is spearmint tea?

Spearmint tea is an herbal infusion made by steeping the leaves of spearmint, botanically known as Mentha spicata, in hot water. It has a gentle mint flavour and is naturally caffeine-free.

Is spearmint tea the same as green tea?

No. Spearmint tea is made from mint leaves. Green tea comes from a different plant, Camellia sinensis, and normally contains caffeine. Pure spearmint tea is an herbal infusion.

What is the difference between spearmint and peppermint?

Both belong to the mint family, but they have different flavour profiles. Spearmint is generally milder and sweeter, while peppermint has a stronger menthol flavour and a more intense cooling sensation.

Is spearmint the same as podina?

Podina, written as پودینہ in Urdu, is a common name for mint. It does not always identify a particular species. If you specifically want spearmint, look for the name spearmint or Mentha spicata, rather than relying only on the word podina.

What are the benefits of spearmint tea?

Spearmint tea provides a refreshing, naturally caffeine-free drink that can replace regular tea or coffee when you want to avoid caffeine. Enjoyed without sweetener, it is also an alternative to sugary drinks. Its gentle mint flavour works well after meals and in iced tea.

Can spearmint tea help with PCOS or unwanted facial hair?

Small studies have investigated spearmint tea’s effects on androgen levels in women with PCOS. A short clinical trial reported changes in hormone levels, but no significant improvement in objectively measured facial hair during the study. These findings do not establish spearmint tea as a treatment for PCOS, acne, or unwanted hair. Speak with your clinician if you are considering it for a hormonal condition.

When is the best time to drink spearmint tea?

Choose a time that suits your routine. After lunch, during an afternoon break, or after dinner are all options. Because pure spearmint is caffeine-free, it can also be an alternative to caffeinated drinks in the evening.

How many cups does a 40 g pack make?

The number depends on how much tea you use. At 2 g per cup, a 40 g pack makes approximately 20 cups. A lighter brew will make more cups and a stronger brew fewer.

What is the price of Hunza Art Spearmint Tea?
